What is the ANA entry criterion?
The EULAR/ACR 2019 criteria require ANA positivity at a titer of ≥1:80 on HEp-2 cells, or an equivalent positive test, at least once before the additive scoring criteria are applied.
How is the final SLE score calculated?
The criteria are grouped into domains. If more than one item is selected in the same domain, only the highest-weighted item in that domain contributes to the total score.
What score classifies a patient as SLE?
After the ANA entry criterion is met, a total score of ≥10 points with at least one clinical criterion classifies the patient as SLE for classification purposes.
Is this calculator diagnostic?
No. These are classification criteria and are not a standalone diagnostic tool. Clinical judgement and exclusion of alternative diagnoses are still required.
Do all criteria need to occur at the same time?
No. Criteria do not need to occur simultaneously. However, each criterion should be attributed to SLE only when a more likely alternative explanation has been excluded.
